19-year-old dies in motorcycle crash on I-75

Troopers say he was riding in the inside lane when he lost control of the motorcycle and hit the guardrail.

PALMETTO, Fla. — A 19-year-old motorcyclist was killed early Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 75 in Manatee County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened around 3:20 a.m. on southbound I-75 near Moccasin Wallow Road in Palmetto.

Troopers say the 19-year-old man was riding his motorcycle above the speed limit in the inside lane when he lost control of the bike and veered into the inside median. He hit the guardrail and cable barrier and was thrown from the motorcycle, the agency added.

The motorcyclist landed in the grassy median and was pronounced dead at the scene by Manatee County emergency medical services.
