Major traffic delays following overnight crash along northbound I-75 in Tampa

A multi-vehicle crash caused fuel and other vehicle fluid to spill over the roadway, requiring an "extensive" clean-up

An overnight crash shut down part of I-75 near Fowler Avenue for several hours, impacting traffic.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. — Northbound lanes of Interstate 75 near Fowler and Fletcher avenues in Hillsborough County were shut down throughout the morning following an overnight crash. 

Drivers headed through Thonotosassa were detoured off of I-75 NB at Fowler Avenue and allowed back on the interstate at the following exit, Fletcher Avenue.

Florida Highway Patrol reported the crash happened around 11:30 pm Monday. At least one person was injured. The extent of the injuries is unknown. 

Alternate routes included US-301, I-275, and Williams Rd. Video from Sky 10 showed something spilled on the road. 

FHP says fuel and vehicle fluids called for an "extensive clean-up" of the road. The roadway is back open.
