FHP: Man killed after crashing into truck towing boat on I-75

Troopers say the man was not wearing a seatbelt when he was thrown from the car.

SARASOTA, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol says a man is dead after a crash Sunday night involving a pickup truck towing a boat on Interstate 75 in Sarasota.

Just before 11 p.m., the 47-year-old man was driving an SUV north on I-75 near the Clark Road exit when he crashed into the rear trailer portion of a pickup truck towing a boat that was driving in front of him, according to FHP.

Troopers say the SUV overturned onto the shoulder causing the driver to be thrown from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one in the pickup truck was injured.

According to the FHP report, the man was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
