PASCO COUNTY, Fla. --A 17-year-old driver died in a crash involving three vehicles on State Road 54 Tuesday afternoon, and the Florida Highway Patrol is trying to figure out who may be responsible.

According to officials, the crash happened on SR 54 at Duck Slough Blvd. around 2:33 p.m.

A 2008 Chevrolet SUV was eastbound on SR 54 when it ran a red light, running into the right side of a 2009 Honda 2-door driven by 17-year-old Lillia Grace Morris of Trinity.

The Honda was pushed over the median, first hitting the right side of a 2009 Nissan 4-door, then the left side of a 2016 Nissan 4-door.

Morris died at the scene. The Nissan drivers were not hurt.

Troopers initially arrested 27-year-old Brandon Windom after he got out of the SUV and left the scene. A passerby captured a photo of Windom leaving the scene, so troopers initially thought he was the driver at fault.

Pasco deputies now believe that 54-year-old Roy Wiley Rimmer of Tampa was driving. He was initially taken to Regional Medical Center - Bayonet Point for serious injuries following the crash.

Charges are pending.
