ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A ridge of high pressure firmly in place over the eastern half of the United States will keep our low out of the east today. This will bring plenty of sunshine early and then scattered showers and storms for the afternoon.

Temperatures will start near 80 degrees and then warm into the low 90s this afternoon. The Heat Index will be around 100 degrees in most spots.

Showers and storms will linger into this evening, but gradually dissipate before midnight. Low temperatures tonight will be in the middle 70s.

The chance of rain today will be around 50%. Through the second half of the week and into the weekend the chance of rain will drop down to only 30%.
