After a couple days with only a few showers and storms in the area, moisture has started to return, which will increase scattered afternoon storms this weekend.

This evening, skies will be partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures in the low 90s. The humidity will send heat indices to between 100-105 degrees. Tonight's lows will fall to the upper 70s.

The easterly flow is drawing in scattered showers and storms from the east this evening to give us a 40% chance of rain tonight.

Meanwhile, an area of disturbed weather will move out of the Bahamas and bring the eastern half of Florida an increased chance of rain through the weekend. Tampa Bay will have the highest chance for afternoon storms on Sunday.

As of Friday afternoon, there is a 90% chance that this area of disturbance becomes a tropical system over the next 5 days. That said, it will be moving away from Florida during the window of development.
