Tampa Bay should expect some storms this evening, though the rain should be gone after sunset.

As you get ready to fire up the grill, head to the beaches, or head out to any one of the fireworks celebrations across the Tampa Bay area, you're going to want to keep a close eye on the weather.

Not only are we tracking the chance for storms today, but we're also gearing up for a heat advisory through the afternoon.

Thunderstorms will threaten a few outdoor activities. While today is starting off dry, the chance of rain and scattered storms will increase quickly this afternoon with the heat of the day.

The combination of our heat and high humidity will also lead to a heat advisory area-wide from noon to 6 p.m. today, meaning that highs in the mid-90s will feel more like 108°-112° at times this afternoon.

We do expect to see some storms linger into the evening hours. However, most thunderstorm activity will gradually dissipate after sunset (8:30 p.m.) as we lose the heat of the day.

With that being said, not ALL of the rain will be over by the time most firework shows are scheduled to start, but at least the clearing process will have started. We're keeping a 30 percent chance for lingering showers across the area after 9 p.m.
