NOAA predicts 'busy' season with 3-6 major hurricanes

NOAA is predicting 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes and 3-6 major hurricanes.

TAMPA, Fla. — The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration dropped its 2020 Atlantic hurricane season predictions Thursday, and it's forecasting a "busy season."

NOAA is predicting 13-19 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes and 3-6 major hurricanes. The outlook predicts there is a 60-percent chance of an above-normal season. 

The first named storm of the year came early when Tropical Storm Arthur formed in the Atlantic on May 16.

The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 through Nov. 30. 

The 2019 Atlantic hurricane season saw six hurricanes, three major hurricanes, including Hurricane Dorian, and 18 named storms.
