Tolls waived on some Florida roads to help with Hurricane Dorian evacuations

Mandatory evacuations were issued for Zones A and B in Palm Beach County and Martin County, Florida.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — As Florida prepares for a possible hit by Hurricane Dorian, people might be left wondering about tolls on evacuation routes.

Tolls in Florida will be suspended if evacuation orders are given because of Hurricane Dorian.

Right now, mandatory evacuations have been issued for Zones A and B in Palm Beach County and Martin County. Gov. Ron DeSantis said tolls will be suspended at the 25-mile marker and the 100-mile marker on I-75 (Alligator Alley).

Tolls are also suspended along portions of the Florida Turnpike from milepost 0 in Florida City to milepost 309 in Wildwood.

The roads where tolls are being waived include Sawgrass Express, 520 Beachline and East-West Beltway in Orlando. There are no bridge closures as of Sunday afternoon.

Tolls suspended ahead of Hurricane Dorian:

  • Alligator Alley
  • The Turnpike Mainline (SR 91), including the Homestead Extension (SR 821)
  • Sawgrass Expressway (SR 869)
  • Beachline Expressway (SR 528)
  • First Coast Expressway (SR 23)
  • SR 417
  • SR 429
  • I-95 Express Lanes
  • I-595 Express Lanes
  • I-75 Express Lanes
  • I-295 Express Lanes

In addition to the roads above, the Central Florida Expressway Authority has suspended tolls on the following

  • SR 408
  • SR 414
  • SR 451
  • SR 453
  • SR 538
  • SR 551

Construction and lane closures across Tampa Bay’s interstates were also put on hold ahead of the storm.

FDOT says when hurricanes head toward the area, they tell all road and bridge contractors to temporarily suspend all operations on construction projects.
