SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. — The first weekend of December doesn't always promise great weather around Tampa Bay, but this year the forecast couldn't get much better.

As we bid farewell to hurricane season and the heat and humidity that comes along with the summer months, the lower humidity and more bearable temperatures are a welcome shift as we settle into the holiday spirit.

That holiday spirit launches into high gear this weekend with several Christmas and holiday events across the entire Tampa Bay region. While our weather won't necessarily match some of the winter scenes at these events, it may arguably be some of the best weather in the country for being outside.

High pressure centered over the Mid-Atlantic has a hold of our weather which will feature plenty of sunshine and slightly warmer than normal temperatures. The normal high temperature for early December in the Tampa Bay region is in the middle 70s, but high temperatures for the next several afternoons will be around 80 degrees.

Relatively dry air will remain in place through the weekend which will keep the humidity down, especially compared to the higher humidity that was in place through the last week of November.

The drier conditions combined with mostly clear skies at night will make for excellent evenings to be out and about exploring all the different Florida Holiday wonderlands. Temperatures through most evenings over the next week will be in the 70s with overnight lows settling in the low-middle 60s. The normal low temperature is 58 degrees.

The sunset this time of year is around 5:30 pm, leaving a good chunk of your evening with perfect conditions for enjoying all of the holiday lights and illuminated displays.

For now, it looks like this stretch of great early-December weather continues through most of next week as well.
