TAMPA BAY -- A skinny waterspout was spotted Thursday morning just near the mouth of Tampa Bay.

Tampa Bay Times photographer Scott Keeler caught the feature as showers moved east from the Gulf of Mexico. He told 10Weather meteorologist he captured it in three frames and suddenly, it disappeared.

The waterspout formed around 9 a.m. Thursday off of Bean Point on Anna Maria Island, more so southwest of Egmont Key, according to a National Weather Service storm report.

Another photo taken from Anna Maria Island shows the waterspout extending from the clouds to just below the treeline on Anna Maria Island.
