The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has released its forecast for the upcoming 2019 Atlantic Hurricane Season.
The forecast calls for a near-normal season with 9-15 named storms, 4-8 hurricanes and 2-4 major hurricanes.
Back in April, the AccuWeather Global Weather Center predicted 2019 would be near to slightly above normal with 12-14 storms. Those forecasters believe 5-7 may become hurricanes and 2-4 will become major hurricanes. Taken together, those forecasts are quite similar to what the NOAA believes.
Hurricane season begins on June 1 and extends through Nov. 30. But, now is the time to check your supplies and figure out what preparations are necessary for your family.
