CITRA, Fla. -- Days after two Gilchrist County deputies were killed by a "coward" of a suspect, another Florida county is trying to figure out what kind of person would attack its law enforcement, too.

A call for information is wanted to help find any suspects who shot at a deputy while he worked to disperse a crowd at a bar.

Marion County deputy Joseph Spratlin and other customers were shot at several times while the deputy did the job early Sunday at the Paradise Bar and Lounge, located at 13007 North U.S. Highway 441, according to a news release.

Spratlin took cover as his patrol car was hit by one of the bullets. Other deputies responded to help, but everyone had left the bar by then, the release states.

"Enough is enough," Sheriff Billy Woods said. "A law enforcement officer’s worst fear came true in Gilchrist County last week, and I can tell you that all of my people are on edge."

Anyone with information is asked to call Sgt. Donald Buie at 352-368-3538 or Crime Stoppers at 352-368-STOP.
