Just a test: Hillsborough River turns green ahead of St. Patrick's Day

Testing took place ahead of the Mayor's River O'Green celebration, which is set for Sunday, March 17.

TAMPA, Fla. - The city of Tampa tested its green dye color in the Hillsborough River on Friday ahead of St. Patrick's Day.

The dye used is safe for the environment, non-toxic, biodegradable and meets EPA standards, according to the city of Tampa.

Testing took place ahead of the Mayor's River O'Green celebration, which is set for Sunday, March 17.

St. Patrick's Day is also Sunday.
