TAMPA, FL -- There's a serious problem stinking up Tampa. Garbage is washing up along Bayshore Boulevard right where many of you walk, run and bike.

"It’s counterintuitive to what you would expect to see on Bayshore," said Kurt Thoreson.

Kurt and his fiancé, Brittany Burrows, are engaged in cleaning up the community.

"We go at least twice a week," Brittany said.

And, have been picking up garbage since -- get this -- their first date!

"We ended up with a lot of trash."

Both are biology teachers and Brittany started a conservation club at Alonso High school. Some of her students spent their Saturday cleaning up Cypress Point Park.

"It's disrespectful," said one of the students.

Kurt and Brittany saw our stories on trash plaguing St. Pete neighborhoods. That’s when they reached out and sent pictures of garbage washing up along Bayshore.

The couple jogs along Bayshore Boulevard daily.

"I saw this board floating up Friday night and I pulled it up and I didn’t realize how big it was."

And, the city is helping with putting trash cans so far away from here.

"The closest trash can looks like a quarter mile down the road there," Kurt said.

But, they say it takes all of us to help keep the environment clean and animals safe.

For them, the couple that cleans together, stays together.
