TAMPA, Fla. - This weekend, you can fish in Florida freshwater without a license. That goes for both residents and non-residents.

Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) offers eight days each year where they allow would-be fishermen (& women) the opportunity to fish without a license.

All other rules remain in place including bag and size limits, restricted zones, and seasons.

If you're not able to head out this weekend, here are more dates you'll be able to fish license-free.

License-free freshwater days

  • First consecutive Saturday and Sunday in April
  • Second consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June

License-free saltwater days

  • First consecutive Saturday and Sunday in June
  • First Saturday in September
  • Saturday following Thanksgiving
