HOBE SOUND, Fla. — A Florida teacher says he's recovering after a shark bit him while he was surfing in Hobe Sound, CBS affiliate WPEC reports.
Chris Bryan, 42, a teacher at South Fork High School said he was catching his last wave when he felt something on his foot.
“I jumped off my board, and it bit my foot and then it was gone,” Bryan told WPEC. “It was so fast that it almost like was, did that really just happen?”
He says he was rushed to the hospital after he got to the beach and started calling for help. He had to get surgery for a severed tendon, but his foot is expected to regain full function after the stitches.
Bryan says he won't let the bite stand in his way and told WPEC he can't wait to get back in the water.
