The Tampa Bay Buccaneers acquired Pro Bowl defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul in a trade with the New York Giants.

Tampa Bay also received a 2018 fourth-round pick from New York.

In exchange, the Giants receive a 2018 third-round pick and a fourth-round pick, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

“Jason is an elite-level edge rusher who will make an immediate impact on our defense,” said Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht in a statement. “We are adding a two-time Pro Bowler who is passionate about the game and has established himself as one of the league’s premier defensive ends.

"Jason is an incredibly hard-working playmaker on the defensive front with a unique skill set that allows him to stay on the field in both rushing and passing situations.”

Schefter reported the Buccaneers tried trading for Robert Quinn earlier this offseason before he was traded to the Miami Dolphins.

The Buccaneers signed two defensive tackles in Philadelphia's Beau Allen and Chicago's Mitch Unrein last week. On Wednesday, defensive tackle Clinton McDonald signed a two-year deal with the Denver Broncos. McDonald has spent his last four seasons with the Bucs.

Pierre-Paul, 29, has spent his entire eight-year NFL career with the Giants.

The defensive end was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2011 and 2012. He also won a Super Bowl with the Giants in 2012.

Pierre-Paul is known for having his right index finger amputated in July 2015 after a fireworks accident at his home.

The Giants selected Pierre-Paul out of the University of South Florida with the 15th overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft.
