A teen collapsed and died during conditioning drills on a football field in Tampa.
It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday at Middleton High School.
A Tampa Fire Rescue crew rushed the teen to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police say the teen was a 14-year-old incoming freshman. A law enforcement official said the team was roughly 30-40 minutes into conditioning drills when the teen collapsed. Those drills included weightlifting, wind sprints and water breaks.
A police spokesperson identified the victim as Hezekiah B. Walters.
