Warrior games bring hundreds of athletes, Jon Stewart to Tampa
Nearly 300 wounded service members and veterans were in Tampa for 2019 Department of Defense Warrior Games. It was Tampa’s first time hosting the Warrior Games, but for these athletes, the rush of the competition is not new.
“It’s an extension of what I did for 23 years, honestly. Being out here, competing with your brothers and sisters, who we deployed with, known for many many years in some cases, and getting to lay it out on the field, has been absolutely amazing. It’s a God-send," said Jay Collins, retired Army Green Beret of 23 years and amputee.
