Dozens of new laws take effect in Florida July 1
There are dozens of new laws taking effect today in the Sunshine State, including ones on texting and driving, sanctuary cities and home gardening. Law enforcement is now permitted to pull people over and issue citations for texting and driving as a primary offense. A sanctuary cities ban now requires agencies to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Floridians can also now grow fruits and vegetables in their front yards without fear of local fines.
