Citrus Co. teacher accused of racist podcast submits letter of resignation

A Florida school teacher under fire after hosting an alleged racist podcast has submitted a letter of resignation to the Citrus Co. School District.

CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. -- A Citrus County teacher who was under fire for an alleged racist podcast has submitted a letter of resignation to the school district

According to the Huffington Post, Dayanna Volitich, 25, taught social studies at Crystal River Middle School in Crystal River, Fla. The website said Volitich hosts the Unapologetic podcast under the pseudonym "Tiana Dalichov."

In a podcast from Feb. 26, Volitich agreed with a guest who criticized the idea that “a kid from Nigeria and a kid who came from Sweden are supposed to learn exactly the same” and have the “same IQ.” She also argued that "science" has proved some races are smarter than others.

Volitich was temporarily removed from the classroom following an investigation with school district employees.

The resignation will not be finalized until it is accepted by the school board, per school board policy. The approval is part of the school board agenda set for April 10.
