AVON PARK, Fla. -- A teacher at Avon Park Middle School is accused of sexual misconduct with a teenage student and child pornography.
Jail records show 44-year-old Kevin Dewberry is being held on four counts of lewd behavior with a victim under 16 years of age. While no longer listed on the school's website, internet searches list him as a teacher and head coach at the school.
The Highlands County Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post said school administrators told the school resource deputy Friday, Feb. 23, that a 13-year-old female student made allegations she had been in an ongoing sexual relationship with Dewberry.
He was arrested late Monday.
Then on Wednesday, 55 child porn charges were added after a forensic investigation of Dewberry's phone, deputies said.
His total bail is set at $800,000.
"School administration, district administration, and law enforcement took immediate action and we are fully cooperating with the Highlands County Sheriff’s Office as they investigate," The School Board of Highlands County wrote on Facebook.
