Hillsborough firefighters battle blaze at Tampa apartment

Three other units in the building experienced smoke damage.

TAMPA, Fla. — Hillsborough County Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire Tuesday night in Tampa.

Firefighters were called just after 9:15 p.m. to Place One Condominiums on Needle Leaf Place.

They arrived to find "heavy fire" coming out of the window of the first-floor apartment. Firefighters said they deployed hoses within 10 minutes of the 911 call, containing the blaze in that one apartment.

Three other units in the building experienced smoke damage, the fire department wrote.

There was no one inside the apartment when the fire broke out but one person in the building was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
