The man had said his engine was broken and he couldn't paddle his 10-foot dingy because of high winds and waves. A 29-foot Coast Guard boat responded to tow the man to the Bridge Tender Inn pier.

He wasn't hurt.

"We want to remind mariners to check the weather, and know your boat's limitations before heading out on the water," said Richard T. Hutchinson, a search and rescue coordinator at Sector St. Petersburg.
