Woman dies in Tampa house fire; 3 officers treated for smoke inhalation

TAMPA, Fla. – A 57-year-old woman died Thursday morning in a house fire, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

Three Tampa police officers received treatment for smoke inhalation at a Tampa General Hospital after going into the East Fern Street home near North 34th Street.

Another officer received treatment at the scene.

The four officers found Valerie Fleming dead upon entering the home around 7:30 a.m. Thursday. Crews put out the fire in about 15 minutes.

The fire does not appear suspicious, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.
