An encounter at a Publix between an elderly man and a blogger's child has turned into a fast friendship.

HuffPo Parents blogger Tara Wood wrote on her Facebook that she had taken her daughter, Norah, to the grocery store to pick up some cupcakes for the girl's birthday party.

Norah, riding in a signature Publix racing themed shopping cart, stopped "Mr. Dan" as they were strolling through the aisles. She saw Dan and in her birthday excitement said "Hi, old person! It's my birfday today!," Wood wrote.

And that was the beginning of a beautiful relationship. The two exchanged pleasantries and started to move on when Norah stopped her mom and asked if it was okay for her to take a picture with Mr. Dan.

They found Mr. Dan a short time later and asked him for a photo. From the result, you can see that they acted "like they were long lost friends," Wood wrote.

Wood's post has generated more than 7,000 likes and even connected her with Mr. Dan through a family member. Wood was given Mr. Dan's phone number and they have set up a future lunch date.

Unfortunately, Wood also learned that Mr. Dan's wife had passed away recently but she is determined to help him overcome his sadness. "I just told him he's just been adopted by a family of nine," Wood replied.
