Land O'Lakes, Florida-Students at Sunlake High School deal with the second student death in three weeks.
"It's sad thing not like to lose a Seahawk," says Tommy Thompson, 11th grader.
"It's devastating," adds Collin Blanco, 11th grader.
Grief counselors spent the day at Sunlake High School in Land O'Lakes as students deal with the death of senior Alexander Rodriguez. Pasco Sheriff Deputies say the high school football player died of an apparent overdose at his girlfriend's parent's home in Lutz Wednesday morning.
"When Alex died people cried, counselors have been here and there was a moment of silence," explains Meghan Collins, 11th grader.
Students say Alexander's death reminds them of another loss. Deputies say three weeks ago 15 year old Kiefer Allan committed suicide. According to deputies, Kiefer text his mother the words "I Love You" then shot himself outside his Odessa apartment complex. Deputies say he had apparently been bullied on the school bus.
Junior Collin Blanco says Kiefer had called mutual friends crying. "Kiefer called them said he'd been pushed beyond his limits that some seniors were constantly harassing him."
Students say today's bullying is not as obvious as years ago. "If there is it's not in the open no shoving in lockers more mentally than physically," says Meghan.
Tommy adds, "We don't bully, bullying is not cool."
Pasco Sheriff Deputies say the 2 student deaths are not connected. Deputies say there is an open investigation into the allegations of bullying in Kiefer Allan's suicide.
