Pinellas County, Florida - Many people have had to give up their pets in this recession.
One family decided not to give up their one-year-old pug-Sharpei mix, even as they made the difficult decision to live out of their car.
Wall-E true breed is Oripei, which means a mix of pug and Sharpei.
One day in November, the family let the dog run in a parking lot in the Curlew Road area of north Pinellas county.
The dog was hit by a car and lost the use of his back legs.
Not knowing where to turn, the family dropped him off at a local vet's office. Eventually, the dog found his way into Brandy Stark's home. She's a volunteer with Pug Rescue.
And she named him Wall-E.
"He's never stopped, despite what happened to him," she explained. "He is friendly. He is loving. He wants to be the center of attention."
While Stark loves Wall-E, she contacted 10 Connects in the hopes of finding him a permanent home.
Wall-E uses a walker to get around, but other than that, Stark says he's a normal dog.

Perhaps the most remarkable thing is that he doesn't seem to notice that he has a disability.
"[The accident] hasn't stopped him. He is energetic and active. He just keeps going and has this incredible will," Stark explained.
