TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- State officials have released the termination letter of a former state lawmaker from his job at the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The letter made public Tuesday said former state Rep. Gus Barreiro of Miami Beach was fired for violations of the state's employee handbook.
The violations, however, were not specified and neither a spokesman for DJJ or Barreiro commented. Barreiro, 49, cleaned out his desk last Thursday after receiving the termination letter. He had been in the position since last March.
