Hot Springs, AR (Sports Network) - Solomon Bozeman hit the game-winning three-
pointer with 1.5 seconds left, as Arkansas-Little Rock claimed the Sun Belt
Conference Tournament title with a 64-63 win over North Texas and earned an
automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament.
Tristan Thompson made 1-of-2 from the free-throw line to give North Texas a
63-61 lead with seven seconds left in the game, and out of a timeout,
Arkansas-Little Rock was forced to go the length of the floor. Bozeman
dribbled the ball across midcourt, stop and drained the three to put his squad
in front for good.
Alex Garcia-Mendoza stole the inbounds pass from under the basket on North
Texas' final possession to secure the win.
Bozeman finished with a game-high 20 points and Gus Leeper added 10 for
Arkansas-Little Rock (19-16), which won its first-ever SBC title.
Josh White had a team-best 17 points and Thompson added 15 for North Texas
(22-11), which was attempting to win its second straight conference crown.
Tied at 32-all at the break, the contest stayed tight for the entire second
half.
White hit a three with 25 seconds left to give North Texas a four-point lead,
62-58, but Matt Mouzy answered with a triple with 16 seconds to play to make
it a one-point contest prior to the final dramatics.
Game Notes
Arkansas-Little Rock improved to 15-8 in the all-time series versus North
Texas.
