TAMPA, Fla. — Busch Gardens announced the name of an orangutan that was born in April after giving the public the opportunity to vote on what her name should be.

The baby will be named Stella after thousands of votes were cast, according to a video Busch Gardens posted on Facebook.

The other choices were Miri meaning "lovely" or "to admire" and Juno meaning "the Queen of Heaven."

Stella's birth was a celebration of life and a mark of success for the park's efforts toward orangutan conservation. She and her parents, Luna and Madju, are Bornean Orangutans, which is a critically endangered species

The park is part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan, which they said focuses on ensuring the "welfare and future prosperity" of endangered species, like the Bornean Orangutan.

Researchers believe there are only 104,700 of those orangutans left in the world.
