SAN ANTONIO — A pair of San Antonio twin brothers are at the top of their senior class at Clark High School.
Charlie and Michael Weiner are the 2024 valedictorian and salutatorian.
In terms of GPA, the 18-year-old brothers are very close.
"We have been at the same school since pre-school," Charlie said. "And the whole time we have always competed against each other just in a friendly way."
Charlie emphasized it always has been a friendly competition, and it has clearly worked out for them.
The Weiner's are number one and two out of more than 600 students. The school measures the GPA on a 100 point scale. Michael is valedictorian and sits at 104.6923. Charlie is the salutatorian very close with 104.2885.
"We weren't mad at each other," Michael said. "We thought it was pretty cool."
"We just kept working hard. It was a good surprise for the both of us," Charlie said.
The difference is not much at all.
"It is a few points and a few classes, I think," Michael said.
For their last year in high school, the two really didn't take a break. They're both in six AP courses. To name a few, they're involved in other activities, like debate, and the National Honor Society.
The two credit their parents for the motivation, as well as personal drive. As they walk toward their future, they also leave behind this piece of advice:
"Don't push yourself too hard," Charlie said.
"Don't be afraid to make mistakes or try things," Michael said.
They both plan to attend the University of Texas. Michael will major in biology, a pre-med track. He wants to become a doctor. Charlie plans to major in finance and also wants to be a lawyer. The two, along with the rest of the Northside ISD Clark Cougars graduate on Jun. 11.
