ODESSA, Fla. — A man riding a motorcycle was killed in a crash Tuesday night after yielding to an oncoming fire truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

It happened just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 54 and Fencepost Drive.

A 54-year-old New Port Richey man, riding a Harley Davidson, was going westbound on SR-54 when he yielded for the firetruck, which was responding to a call for service, FHP explained in a press release.

The motorcycle was traveling in front of a Hyundai G80 whose driver "failed to stop" for the fire truck, causing a collision with the motorcycle. Troopers identified the driver of the Hyundai as a 78-year-old New Port Richey man.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene of the crash.

No charges have been announced at this time.
