It happened near Woodland Ave. and Golfview Street in Lakeland. Perry was in his car surrounded by cops when Judd said he started shooting through the car windows.
The four deputies fired about 28 times, hitting Perry at least five times, according to Judd.
“Let's talk about the choices he made yesterday. We didn't choose to shoot Francis Perry,” Judd said. “He chose for us to shoot him, and we accommodated him.”Judd said Perry had thousands of dollars’ worth of meth in the car with him Thursday night. He also had a 9 mm glock handgun, which the Sheriff said was stolen from Pasco County.
