ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — I can’t keep away from all this sunshine! Back in Florida for a second time, I joined 10 Tampa Bay’s Brightside team in July 2023. It’s a drastic change for this Midwesterner, who was born and raised in Minnesota.
Most recently, I worked in Minneapolis-St. Paul as a reporter, covering the fallout of multiple police homicide cases, including the killings of George Floyd, Daunte Wright and Amir Locke.
Before working in the Twin Cities, I spent eight years working in the Sunshine State which included stops in Fort Myers, Tampa and Orlando. During my time in Florida, I've been recognized as an award-winning journalist, named Florida’s best mobile journalist by the Associated Press, as well as collecting regional Edward Murrow awards for investigative journalism while covering chronic recidivism, team coverage reporting for breaking news, as well as videography.
In 2019, I was nominated for an Emmy award for an in-depth look into the lack of policies surrounding sperm donation in the United States. The medical report led to changes at the local level where Xytex, a sperm bank in Atlanta, developed its own policies to cap donations for families using their services.
Hurricane season isn’t anything new for me, either, and I've helped viewers navigate storms before including Hurricane Irma’s widespread destruction when it tore through the state back in 2017.
Outside of the newsroom, I'm a proud mom of two young boys, Aiden and Oliver, who love to ride their bikes, build sandcastles, swim at the beach and get into tons of trouble.
Fun fact: I'm also a former college volleyball player who stands tall at 6’1” and am currently training and hoping to play professional beach volleyball.
Speaking of sports, while I will always rally for local Tampa Bay teams, I'm a through-and-through Green Bay Packers fan at heart and love to cheer for her hometown Twins. If you ever catch me at a game, feel free to say hi!
