I'm beyond thrilled to be joining the 10News Weather Team in beautiful, sunny Tampa! Well, sunny once those daily afternoon storms clear out, of course.

It's actually Florida's fault that I became obsessed with thunderstorms as a kid. That's right, I'm no stranger to the Sunshine State! I spent my childhood years growing up in Rockledge, FL, meaning you could find me splashing around Cocoa Beach almost every single weekend.

Between my dad working for NASA, and my mom, Disney, I was in nerd heaven! I truly believe learning about weather (and all things space related) in Central Florida at such a young age fueled my love for severe weather and the tropics – a passion that I held on to even after my dad's job transferred us to Houston.

I graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Environmental/Atmospheric Science, and a minor in Geology. It wasn’t until an internship at a TV station in Houston that I decided to pursue my passion through broadcasting. After college, I worked my way up the news industry through various cities in Texas: Abilene, College Station, and eventually to one of my favorite cities, Austin!

From historical river flooding, Hurricane Harvey, to widespread winter weather, I really got a taste of it all in Texas. I even had the opportunity to present the game day football forecasts for the award winning pre-game show, “Aggie Gameday.” But to be honest, my heart has been ready to take on the challenges of forecasting and covering tropical weather back in the state that started it all for me, and of course…head back to the beach!

In addition to visiting all the beaches and taking pictures of all the sunsets, I'm enjoying being a tourist in my new city. Checking out the sights, the sounds, and of course, trying all the food! One big project for myself while in Tampa is to obtain my CBM certification from the American Meteorological Society.

Have any favorite dog-friendly places you recommend? Please share them with me! My two pups would appreciate it.
