What you need to know ahead of Tampa's Breakaway Music Festival

TAMPA, Fla. — An electric music festival is coming to Tampa Bay this weekend at Raymond James Stadium.

The Breakaway Music Festival will run from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday across multiple stages. The festival started in Columbus, Ohio, in 2016 and now has 11 different concert locations across the country. 

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming event:

The lineup

Three local DJs will be performing: Pushman, Myr and Taylorlace. 

There will also be a silent disco each day from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with three different stations. 

Tickets

If you want to go, it’s not too late to buy tickets. Two-day general admission tickets are available starting at $189, which includes access to the Main Stage, the Launch Pad, which is another stage, the silent disco, food trucks, vendors and activities. 

There are also general admission passes for one day starting at $99. If you’re a college student, there are one-day tickets you can purchase for $65 if you purchase with a school email.

VIP tickets start at $184 and increase in price depending on how many days you purchase and if you want Ultra VIP, which gives increased access and amenities. 

Getting there

Expect it to be hectic with traffic around the stadium. There are multiple lots drivers can park in using cashless and contactless transactions. Parking is first come, first serve and you can buy it in advance starting at $43.

Concert-goers who are using a ride-share service such as Uber and Lyft should be dropped off and pricked up at the Steinbrenner field, which is a short walk away from the stadium. Anticipate potential delays and higher fees with these apps.

HART bus routes 7, 15, 32, 36 and 45 service the stadium. The stops on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Himes Avenue are about a 15-minute walk from the stadium. 

After Parties

  • Friday

There is one with Matroda, Taylorlace and Pushman on Friday at the Ritz Ybor. Doors open at 11 p.m. and it’s 18 and over. The second one is with Gudfella with 8DN and Brett Michael at Ivy Rose with doors opening at 10 p.m. for people 18 and over. 

  • Saturday

Zuezeu, DMZ and Flaco will be at BAR HWRD for people over 21 with doors opening at 9 p.m. The later after party, with doors opening at 11 p.m., is at The RItz Ybor with Crankdat, Myr and Wilco Beats.

  • Aerosol cans

  • Frisbees and sports balls

  • Air horns

  • Bottles

  • Selfie sticks

  • Weapons including guns, knives and pepper spray

  • Food or beverage

  • Illegal drugs

  • Laser pointers

  • Fireworks

  • Seat cushions with backs

  • Video camera

  • Whistles

  • Hover-boards

  • Any item that can be used as a projectile or deemed as dangerous

  • Pets

Permitted items

  • Clear small bags, purses 

  • Small bags that are 4.5”x6.5” or smaller don’t have to be clear

  • Cigarettes (unopened packs only, vapes, juuls or other electronic smoking devices)

  • Prescription medication

  • Clear, empty hydration packs

  • Flags (no poles)

  • Glowing/illuminates costumes or jewelry

  • Hula hoops
