SeaWorld Orlando and Clearwater Marine Aquarium workers rushed to rescue a 290-pound melon-headed whale that was found beached in Clearwater Beach on Friday.
The adult male whale was found by someone who called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
After conferring with NOAA Fisheries, the whale was taken to SeaWorld Orlando's Cetacean Rehabilitation Facility.
Officials said the whale doesn't appear to have external injuries and is able to swim on his own at the Orlando facility.
The whale's treatment includes antibiotics and fluids, along with blood work and other diagnostic tests to determine the next steps in the recovery plan.
