Cat found with screw in paw will soon be available for adoption

The cat, named Daisy, underwent a successful surgery to remove the screw.

TAMPA, Fla. — A sweet, calico kitty found with a screw in its paw will soon be looking for a loving home.

The Humane Society of Tampa Bay got a call on Wednesday about a cat with a screw screwed into its front right paw. The team was able to jump into action, trapping the feline and setting her up for treatment.

After a successful Thursday morning surgery, the cat — named Daisy "for her beautiful colors and incredible personality" — was on her way to recovery, according to the agency's post on Facebook.

"Daisy was completely unable to use her front paw but that did not stop her from cuddling up into the team," the Humane Society wrote.

Daisy will remain in the Humane Society's care until she heals. She'll then be available for adoption.

Earlier this month, a cat was found in St. Pete with an arrow protruding from its back.

That cat, lovingly named "PAKman" as a nickname for "Poor Arrow Kitty," also underwent a successful surgery but is still working toward recovery.

In its latest update, the nonprofit Cat Trap Fever which is caring for PAKman, said the animal is making incredible progress and is weaning off its feeding tube to be able to eat on its own.
