Kutaisi, Georgia - March 18, 2022: McDonald's McRib sandwitch. McRib is a barbecue-flavored pork sandwich.

TAMPA, Fla. — It's back — the saucy, oftentimes elusive McRib has returned to the Sunshine State.

Last year, many McRib lovers mourned as the sandwich made its "farewell tour" across the country. After more than 40 years of serving up the seasonal fan favorite, McDonald's said it would retire the boneless pork sensation.

But we knew it wasn't going to be goodbye forever. And just like Tom Brady with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the McRib is coming out of retirement. However, it's not going to be available nationwide.

Playing hard-to-get, the McRib will only be available in certain areas but for now it's all good news for fans living in the Tampa Bay area. Lucky fans living in Central and Southwest Florida can rejoice knowing their beloved sandwich is coming back to them where they live.

Starting Nov. 16, participating McDonald's in Citrus, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk and Sarasota counties will serve up the popular sandwich while supplies last.

There isn't an exact date for how long the McRib will remain on the menu, so you may need to act sooner rather than later.

Since 2008, diehard McRib fans have been able to rely on the McRib Locator — created by a superfan — to track where in the world they can get their coveted meal. The site is still active, meaning those who are on the hunt for a McRib at their local McDonald's can check the site before hopping in their car. However, it's always a good idea to check the app or call ahead to make sure it's still available.
