Express stores across Florida are closing — including some in Tampa Bay area

Express shoppers will be able to score deals when closing sales begin on Tuesday.

TAMPA, Fla. — Express, the U.S. fashion retailer, announced on Monday that it filed for bankruptcy.

Now this doesn't mean that business is ending completely for the clothing company, but it does mean that it's closing dozens of stores — 95 out of 584 total stores to be exact.

Express added in a filing that over the past 12 months, it has already shuttered around 100 stores.

The Columbus, Ohio-based company said it received an offer from a group led by WHP Global for the sale of most of its retail stores and operations. WHP Global owns Toys "R" Us, along with fashion labels such as Anne Klein and Joseph Abboud.

The Express stores that are closing were identified in a bankruptcy filing and are across 30 states and Washington, D.C. All 10 brick-and-mortar locations of Express' UpWest will also be closing.

Here are the Express stores closing across Florida, including some in the Tampa Bay area.

Express shoppers will be able to score deals when closing sales begin on Tuesday. After the closures, the company said it should be "business as usual.”

This year has already seen several big businesses closing due to losses and declining sales. In February, Macy's announced it would close 150 unproductive namesake stores over the next three years. That same month, the parent company of Outback Steakhouse announced that it closed dozens of "underperforming" locations across the country.
