Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo, 26, is now charged with aggravated manslaughter of a child.

SARASOTA, Fla. – A Bradenton man now faces an aggravated manslaughter of a child charge after the release of a medical examiner’s final report.

The charge against Uvo-Kk Ayoma Uvo stems from a December 2017 incident involving the assault of a 3-month-old boy, according to the report.

Uvo, 26, initially faced lesser charges of aggravated child abuse and child neglect because of the injuries to the boy.

Authorities are holding Uvo at the Sarasota County Jail.

The boy passed away on Dec. 29, 2017.

The child’s mother told detectives that her boyfriend, Uvo, drove her to a nail salon on Dec. 27, 2017. The boy was also in the car. When Uvo picked her up with the boy, the mother found him lifeless and “slightly cold to the touch,” according to Sarasota police.

The mother then called 911, but Uvo ran from because he had three warrants for his arrest out of Lee County. She told police the boy was fine and sleeping when she got out of the car an hour and a half earlier, according to an affidavit.

First responders airlifted the boy to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. Doctors told police detectives they suspected abuse of the child. Uvo spoke with detectives the next day.

The mother told police she didn't know what happened while she went to the salon.
