CLEARWATER, Fla. — A childcare worker from Clearwater was arrested Tuesday on multiple counts of child abuse, authorities said.

Noel Michelle Savoy, 33, was charged with nine counts of child abuse involving five different children who are all around 1 year old, according to a Clearwater Police Department news release.

According to police, they were called on Wednesday, Feb. 14, to Kid City USA off McMullen Booth Road after another employee saw Savoy handling children in a "rough manner." She was reportedly fired sometime last month.

The police department's Crimes Against Children and Families Unit and Child Protection Investigation workers began an investigation at that time.

Authorities said Savoy was booked into the Pinellas County Jail. Detectives report she admitted her actions were wrong and could have seriously injured the children.

The investigation into this incident is still ongoing.
