LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Lee County deputies are looking for the owner of a dog found with its mouth taped shut with red electrical tape.

Animal services responded to a call about a male Florida Cur seen walking through backyards with its mouth taped shut. The dog seemed dehydrated and malnourished and was reportedly panting, drooling, and nearly suffocating. It was also bleeding from wounds on his left leg and chest.

The dog has been treated by a veterinarian and is resting 'comfortably' at animal services, according to deputies.

Deputies are asking for the community's help in identifying the owner of the dog.

Anyone with any further information on the identity of the dog, the owner, or the incident is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at (239) 477-1000. Anonymous tips can also be left with Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS or online. Tips may be eligible for up to a $3,000 reward.
