Lakeland police name wanted suspects in deadly shooting

The two suspects were named, and police are looking for them.

LAKELAND, Fla. — The Lakeland police chief revealed the names of two wanted suspects following the deadly shooting Monday evening that led to the deaths of two people, including a 3-year-old boy.

Speaking during a news conference Thursday afternoon, Chief Sam Taylor said police have determined there were three people in the 2014 white Dodge Challenger involved in the shooting instead of two.

The three men were Kevarius Green, 30, and brothers Kemarius and Demarius Wilson, who are both 22.

Kemarius, who was holding a handgun, and Green, who was holding a rifle, exited the front passenger door of the Challenger. Kemarius approached the driver's side of the Toyota RAV4, which was occupied by the driver Yeimarie Baez, the passenger Robert Einzig and two children in the back.

Police said he then went to the back of the car. Green approached the RAV4, and at some point, shots were exchanged between Green and Enzing.

While shots were being fired, Kemarius ran back to the Challenger because he was shot in the neck by a bullet from the rifle.

When both Kemarius and Green got back to the vehicle, its driver left the apartment complex. Kemarius later died at Lakeland Regional Health.

Taylor said the medical examiner determined Jaquez Norton, the 3-year-old who was killed in the backseat, and Kemarius were both injured "by a round that is very consistent with the 223, or the rifle round that was being fired."

An arrest warrant was issued for Green charging him with two counts of first-degree murder, one count of second-degree shooting into an occupied vehicle and one count felony attempted first-degree murder with a weapon.

Taylor said Demarius Wilson was involved because he was at his uncle's house when the shooting happened. The Challenger fled to that house after the shooting where Kemarius was put into another vehicle and taken to the hospital.

The two brothers were seen together shortly before the shooting and while police can't put him in the Challenger during the shooting, police said they can place him in the car before and after.

"We very much suspect that he was the driver since the other two individuals got out of the passenger side," Taylor said. "The car wasn't driving itself."

Demarius has been charged with third-degree felony tampering with evidence and is currently on federal pre-trial release for wire fraud.

"We do not know of this date where they are, and we need the public's help in helping us identify these two individuals," said Taylor, referring to Demarius and Green.

There is a $5,000 reward and anyone with information is being asked to call Detective Cory Lawson at 863-834-8975 or email cory.lawson@lakelandgov.net
