SAO: Woman accused of targeting middle school students for sex faces new charges for 4 more victims

The state attorney's office says Alyssa Zinger has now been charged with 11 felonies and faces up to 146 years in prison if convicted.

TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa woman arrested in November for posing as a student to target middle school kids for sex has been arrested again after investigators discovered four new victims, the state attorney's office reports.

Alyssa Zinger, 23, posed as a 14-year-old homeschooled student on social media, befriended students at Wilson Middle School in Tampa's Hyde Park neighborhood and then sent sex videos on Snapchat, according to Tampa police.

Police say Zinger then engaged in sexual acts with several different students.

A spokesperson for Hillsborough County Schools said one of the victims told an adult on campus about Zinger, which prompted the investigation.

Investigators say Zinger was involved in a shoplifting incident in July 2023 with a middle school student she was said to be "dating." During that incident, Zinger reportedly claimed to be 14 years old.

However, investigators spoke to a Publix store in Carrollwood that confirmed Zinger worked there and was 22 years old at the time.

Since Zinger's initial arrest in November, investigators say they've identified four new victims. Zinger was arrested again on Friday on seven new charges:

  • lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim 12 - 15 (two counts)
  • lewd or lascivious battery (two counts)
  • possession of child pornography
  • in-state transmission of child pornography by electronic device
  • sexual cyberharassment

In total, the state attorney's office says Zinger has been charged with 11 felonies and faces up to 146 years in prison if convicted.

Zinger made a brief appearance in court on Friday but will have a pre-trial hearing on Monday morning.
