Flag etiquette: How well do you know U.S. Flag Code?

In a year when respect for the United States flag has been in the spotlight, thanks in large part to President Trump's tweets, we went out to look for violations of the U.S. Flag Code.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The U.S. Flag Code (United States Code Title 4, Chapter 1) outlines federal rules for properly displaying, handling and disposing of the U.S. flag. Among the long list of rules: Flags are not to be used in advertisements, worn as clothing or draped over a vehicle.

It's been a year when respect for the United States flag has been in the spotlight, thanks in large part to President Trump’s tweets.

10News decided to head out to the beach and look for people who may be violating the U.S. Flag Code, and found plenty.

Flags were being used for advertisements, they were draped over vehicles, and worn as clothing.
