Fort Campbell soldier chased by bees, killed by cars

A Fort Campbell soldier died after being attacked by bees and then hit by three cars on Highway 41-A in Pleasant View Sunday night, according to Cheatham County Sheriff Mike Breedlove.

The 21-year-old man was walking home from a party and was "very intoxicated, or on drugs," Breedlove said, and had tried to break into a landscaping company when something fell on him, trapping him.

Breedlove said the man called his girlfriend, then called 911, saying he was being chased. The man ran into Highway 41-A and was struck by a passing car, then struck by two more cars.

"He got into a beehive," Breedlove said. "That's what our investigation shows, that its bees that were chasing him and stinging him."

Breedlove said the highway was shut down for several hours.
