TRINITY, Fla. -- A driver ran a red light and struck a school bus Monday afternoon injuring five of the students on the bus

Charlotte Nielsen, 72, of Palm Harbor, was headed westbound on Trinity Boulevard approaching Little Road when she did not stop for a red light, and collided with the bus that was entering the intersection to turn eastbound on Trinity Boulevard, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The front right of Nielsen's car struck the front left of the bus, which was driven by Walter Michaels, 56, of New Port Richey.

Five of the 53 students on the bus suffered minor injuries.

Pasco County Schools says there were students from both Seven Springs Middle and Mitchell High schools aboard at the time of the crash just before 3:30 p.m.

The intersection of Trinity and Little was shut down for about an hour and a half while police investigated and cleared the scene.

Another bus came to take the rest of the students home.
